Qualinx taped out Digital PLL in 28nm

Qualinx taped out an ultra low power Digital-PLL IP in 28nm CMOS technology designed for dual-mode Bluetooth® (BR/EDR/LE). It futures Direct FM Modulation with data rate up to 2Mbps.

This IP is Bluetooth v4.2 and v5.0 compliant as well as supporting the IEEE 802.15.4 (Zigbee/6LowPAN/Thread) standard. The IP is integrated into a customer’s SoC and it has been rigorously tested and validated with successful results.

Energy-efficient oscillator

Cheaper and better. With such succinct words of praise, a product is sure to sell itself. However, the practical application wasn’t the central concern when Dr Massoud Tohidian was designing his extremely small, accurate and energy-efficient oscillator. In his own words: Our primary focus was on developing a new type of circuit. Tohidian’s oscillator comes in two versions: one that’s extremely small with low phase noise and low energy usage, and another that’s the same size as an LC oscillator, but a lot more accurate ...

Cheap oscillator delivers top performance

TU scientists invented a new type of oscillator that is much cheaper, with high performance. Most promising application is in telecommunication chips. This oscillator combines low phase noise with low costs. It features wide tuning range of an octave, kHz range frequency tuning steps, quadrature output signals, and ...
